SHOWCASING MANDARIN LANGUAGE SKILLS IN BUSINESS
Bryant University’s U.S.–China Institute,Confucius Institute, and the International Business Program is pleased to announce a Mandarin Business Case Competition on October 29-31, 2009. Undergraduate student teams from around the United States are invited to participate in the competition.
Teams, comprised of non-native Mandarin speakers, will spend two weeks analyzing a complex business case before arriving at Bryant University to present their recommendations to a panel of judges. Judges will include business executives as well as faculty members from New England colleges and universities, who are fluent in Mandarin. Sponsors are invited to serve as or suggest judges for this competition.
This competition places students in a real-life business presentation setting where they must use their Mandarin language skills to inform, persuade, and respond to questions.
The competition Cases will be sent via email to participating teams two weeks in advance of the competition.
All teams will present their response to the case in Mandarin, including PowerPoint slides, to the panel of judges. Five teams will advance to the final round with winners announced at the awards banquet. Cash prizes will be given to the first, second, and third placed teams respectively.
